The submission portal

After drawing a standard blood sample, your team logs a panel request through the MetaDx portal. You enter patient basics - species, breed, age, body weight, and any prior diagnoses. Samples are processed by our USDA-registered laboratory partner in San Diego.

The portal tracks sample status in real time. When analysis is complete, results appear in the portal and are emailed to the requesting veterinarian. HL7/FHIR export is available for practices with Cornerstone, IDEXX Neo, or EzyVet integration.

The diagnostic report

MetaDx Lab reports are structured around three output types: condition flags (present / borderline / not flagged), biomarker deviation tables (individual marker values vs. breed/age reference ranges), and a recommended follow-up checklist.

Every report is reviewed by a board-certified veterinary clinical pathologist before release. The AI classification determines priority; a human validates clinical context before the PDF is generated.

Reports are designed to be shared with pet owners. The summary section is written in plain language, with the technical biomarker data available as an appendix for the clinical file.

Canine and feline panels. Validated across mixed-breed and purebred populations.

Dilated Cardiomyopathy

Cardiac troponin I and NT-proBNP ratio analysis. Validated in Dobermanns, Boxers, and large-breed mixed-population cohorts.

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)

SDMA + cystatin-C + urine protein-to-creatinine ratio pattern analysis. Identifies Stage 1-2 CKD before creatinine rises.

Hyperadrenocorticism (Cushing's)

Cortisol-to-ACTH ratio analysis combined with alkaline phosphatase isoenzyme pattern. Reduces false positives from stress response.

Hypothyroidism (Canine)

Total T4, free T4, and TSH multi-marker model accounts for euthyroid sick syndrome patterns that confound single-marker testing.

Hyperthyroidism (Feline)

Total T4 + free T4 pattern analysis with concurrent renal biomarker screen. Identifies concurrent CKD masking hyperthyroid presentation.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Cobalamin, folate, and PLI pattern combination. Distinguishes IBD from food-responsive enteropathy with 88% specificity in validation cohort.

Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia

Reticulocyte count pattern + Coombs predictor biomarker cluster flags active IMHA before severe anemia develops.

Immune-Mediated Thrombocytopenia

Platelet count trend + mean platelet volume + thrombopoietin predictor panel distinguishes ITP from reactive thrombocytopenia.

Hepatic Lipidosis (Feline)

ALT, GGT, bilirubin, and albumin multi-ratio model. Particularly relevant for obese cats post any-cause anorexia episode.

Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency

TLI + cobalamin + folate panel with breed-adjusted reference ranges. German Shepherd Dog cohort validation completed 2023.

Chronic Pancreatitis

Spec cPL/fPL + lipase isoenzyme pattern analysis for subclinical pancreatitis in dogs and cats presenting with intermittent GI signs.

Neoplasia Biomarker Screen

Circulating CRP, thymidine kinase, and inflammatory cytokine cluster flags neoplastic activity in dogs over 5 years. Not a definitive test - designed to trigger imaging follow-up.
